External emergency valves are designed to shut off flow at the outlet of an aboveground storage tank or in a liquid transfer line where product flow must be stopped in the event of an emergency such as a fire. A fusible link holds the valve's spring-actuated poppet in the open position until the link melts. Fusible link UL Listed temperature is 165° F. Once the fusible link melts, the external shut-off valve's swing arm lever is released to close the valve and stop product flow.
These external emergency valves are made of ductile iron bodies, plunger, caps, and poppets (swing arms), feature stainless-steel internal springs and seats, and include PTFE gaskets. Valves feature 2" flange ports.
