Giant pulsation dampeners are designed to reduce pulsations (pressure fluctuations) that occur in piping systems that include a positive displacement pump. Giant pulsation dampeners feature rubber bladders which are pre-charged with nitrogen up to 50-60% of the system pressure. As water passes by the pulsation dampener, it absorbs system shocks by minimizing pulsations, pipe vibrations, water hammering, and other pressure fluctuations caused by movement of water within the system. By minimizing these pulsations, other system components such as regulators, solenoids, valves, sensors, and more see decreased wear and tear, prolonging their service life.
Note: Ideal pre-charge is 1/2 of the operating pressure of the pump but should not exceed 50% of the maximum operating pressure of the dampener.
